The History
Established in 1971 by director Alonzo Braddon, the Vanguard High School Band has a continued legacy of pride and excellence in both it's music and performance. Throughout the seventies and eighties, Vanguard's marching band was renowned for it's use of the latest music mixed with popular dance techniques. This combination awed and amazed the crowds and made Vanguard the band to beat at all the competitions. In the ninties Vanguard defended the title as a "crowd pleaser" band by going retro and performing people's favorite hits of yester-year.
The Concert Band has, from the very first, been a mainstream of music for everyone.Whether it be the classical sounds of Beetoven's 5th Symphony, more modern compositions of Robert W. Smith, or the ever-present melodies of Disney; Vanguard Continues to please the audience. |

The Boosters
The Vanguard Band Boosters was established in order to promote and support the work of the Vanguard Band and Band Director. Throughout its history, the boosters organization has encouraged parental and community involvment through fund raisers, chaperones, and financial support. Anyone interested in joining the Vanguard Boosters should contact the school for officer phone numbers.
